Secondary Awards Night

On Thursday, 14 November the annual Sirius College, Awards Night was held. A night where we acknowledge all the hard work and effort the students have put throughout the year. A night which was truly amazing and unforgettable.

I have been attending the annual Awards Night since year seven and this year was sadly my last year attending Ibrahim Dellal Campus’s special night, being my last time, I will truly miss it.

Awards night has been one of the best nights to come, I have performed twice in year seven and eight and now again I have been given the privilege to represent our school as one of the MCs. Being the host for our awards night is something I would not have expected if I was told back in year seven; trying new things out, speaking publicly and hosting such an event has been such a privilege that I am truly grateful for. Spending my time practising and being with the people that I love on that night, cheering my friends on, was such a beautiful moment that I won't forget.

I was blessed to be surrounded by and watch all my friends give it their all and perform. I loved each of the performances so much! I truly enjoyed Nadia’s singing and her beautiful piano performance. I was mesmerized and really loved Taha’s piano and Leyla’s violin performance. I laughed and enjoyed the “Genie of Google Home” drama, each actor executed her role perfectly. And lastly, the drumming performance which was so astounding.

Furthermore, what also made Awards Night an unforgettable night was the awards I was presented with. I had no expectations that night, I had only imagined getting maybe one or two awards for art and possibly the role model award; I was completely blown away and so overjoyed to be happily surprised by the awards I was given. I would like to thank all the teachers and the Australian Defence Force for allowing me to receive these awards. Thank you to all teachers and students once again for making Awards Night so special.

Thank you,
Shahani Asmi Kiyabdeen, Year 10
